A Postcard from the BVI's

June 22, 2015

It was an amazing sailing trip around the BVI’s! I must admit...I was apprehensive about the week. Living on a boat always comes with motion sickness for me and definitely does not come with a spa. Even though we hit a few bumps in the road along the trip...including losing our small inflatable boat, breaking the air-conditioning, and losing the paddle to the kayak, we had a blast. I read A LOT and got plenty of sun while avoiding a sunburn. The islands were absolutely stunning and the water was amazing. I definitely recommend chartering a boat as a family getaway!

Tips for your Getaway

  • Tie up your inflatable VERY tight (its funny...but after a glass a wine you may forget!)

  • If you are hoping for a very quiet and relaxed trip, go in the summertime. End of may to end of July is considered the off-season, and the islands are very quiet. There is also little live music in the off-season, which I was bummed about. If you are hoping for a more lively and busy vacation, February through early May is the time to go!

  • Make dinner reservations during the daytime (especially if you go in the off-season!). During the summer, most restaurants will close early if they do not have reservations booked. We noticed a lot of the employees and bartenders seemed very tired from the busy season.

  • Stock up on plenty of snacks before you embark on your trip

Snapshots!

This is the view from a dock at the Bitter End Yacht club on Virgin Gorda...absolutely beautiful! A great spot to get onto land to relax, swim by the pool, and have a fun dinner!

Ivan's STRESS FREE BAR...which also happens to be Kenney Chesney's favorite bar in the islands!
