Watch Hill: Insider Secrets
Our lovely seaside boutique is celebrating its second season open, so we're sharing some insider knowledge on the quaint town of Westerly, Rhode Island, affectionately known as Watch Hill. This A-list escape is home to the likes of Conan & T-Swift (we can't help but wonder: is this where she felt "so Gatsby for that whole year"?) but it's also surprisingly approachable with sweet locals like our very own Juliette, manager of the Sara Campbell SoWa Sale Shop in Boston. She shares her passion for her hometown with us today, wearing outfits from our beautiful boutique located at 1 Bay Street in town. Want one of her outfits? Give the ladies a call at 401-637-4760 or make a trip to visit Sara Campbell and the fun spots Juliette recommends below!
I just love my hometown! I'm wearing our printed Sheri pants (SC 118-553) with our ruffle sleeve linen tunic (SC 118-462) and a handwoven pom pom tote.
Summertime in Watch Hill is simply magic. Sailboats, sunshine, and the sea-- it just doesn’t get any better. This time of year, venturing into the quaint village has an aura of hospitality and an excitement from the shopkeepers, cracking the doors open to their summer homes-away-from-home after the long winter. As you can imagine, it's quite the sweet homecoming. From boats returning to their moorings in the scintillating harbor to the triumphant call of the historic carousel, you can surely find me bopping around this beautiful town I am grateful to call home!
First Stop: The Ocean House
The Ocean House is famously known for its yellow shingled jacket. It was built in 1865 and became the centerpiece of Watch Hill. A local investor recently took the hotel under his wing and transformed the property into the luxurious getaway we know today (after extensive renovations)! It boasts beautiful oceanfront landscapes overlooking Montauk, Block Island, and Fisher’s Island. All of these factors make it the perfect place to enjoy a sunset, have glass of wine, and (of course) take a cute picture. You may even get to sneak a look at a famous someone with the last name Swift and her sweet digs!
This regal estate is a luxe place to take a selfie and enjoy a glass of wine with spectacular views! I'm wearing our new magic dress with flounce hem (SC 118-547) and a selection of gorgeous gold jewelry from our location at 1 Bay Street.
The Olympia Tea Room
With its bright pink interior and hanging glass chandeliers, this 100-year-old establishment has quite the menu and wine list to offer. Enjoy a meal or a fun drink, while taking in the complimentary sunset views. I recommend the oysters and pasta dishes. Whether you're inside at a cozy booth or outside overlooking the harbor, this spot is a literal summer night’s dream!
The Columbia House, built in 1890 along Bay Street in Watch Hill, was ravaged by fire in 1914. A boarding house was built in its place with rooms on the upper floors and the Olympia Tea Room on the street level.
We're more than just dresses, we have fabulous accessories too!
The lighthouse has served as a nautical beacon for ships since 1745. It continues to be a historic landmark and a popular destination for the groups of tourists that come to marvel at this treasure town during the high seasons of summer. The rocky coastline against the ocean never fails to be a pretty sight, regardless of the weather!

Next Stop: St. Clair Annex
Yes, please to this heavenly creation!
Family owned and operated since 1887, St. Clair Annex has the scoop on how to captivate the masses since they indulge in the perfect homemade ice cream to fuel your sweet tooth cravings. They also have a popcorn stand if you're more of a savory person like myself. Watch Hill residents dream about the sinfully delicious grinders (Read: "Sub" if you're not from RI or CT) that are served for both lunch and dinner. Ask anyone and the first thing they’ll tell you to do in Watch Hill is grab a grinder at the Annex. Some of my menu favorites include black raspberry ice cream, genoa grinders, and breakfast sandwiches!
Finally, Sara Campbell
Last but not least: my favorite place to hang out after a day of exploring Watch Hill is Sara Campbell, of course. I like to unwind on these pretty chairs and admire the beautiful clothing which is all made in the USA while planning my outfits for all of my future excursions! What will you be wearing on your next day trip? Leave a comment below this post and let us know!
