A recipe tells a special kind of story. It brings each of us to our favorite memory. Maybe that memory is with your mom, begging her to let you eat the batter off of the spoon. Maybe it is with your best friends on Sunday night. Maybe it is a sunny Saturday morning after a run with the New York Times and James Taylor in the background. Maybe it is over a family dinner, sneaking bites to your sweet pup under the table (shh!). James Beard wrote that “food is our common ground, a universal experience, ” and the wonderful thing about a meal is that it brings us together time and time again. For my family, no matter what is going on, it is Mexican food at our favorite family Mexican spot, Sol Azteca, laughing as we indulge in a skinny Margarita and fight over the last scoop of guacamole. Whether you are cooking-preferred, baking preferred, or takeout preferred, we each have our own personal love affair with some type of meal. Such a love affair can tell us so much about a person. With this in mind, I started to wonder about my Sara Campbell family. What were the recipes of their hearts? It took some digging, but we have compiled a list of some of our village members’ most coveted recipes to bring you warmth and joy this holiday season.
We will follow up with a post about the Sara Campbell customer community and the recipes that light up their souls. In a time where we feel so far apart, we hope these recipes can make you feel a bit closer to us.
We are still here, we are still fighting, and we are ever-grateful for your support and love!
